Early Saturday morning we loaded up the trucks with people and medicine and left for the clinic. We took about 6 coolers of tetanus vaccine with us to administer to the people. Along with the medicine, we gave out cards describing in Creole and in English what the vaccine was and how they were benefiting from the shots. This will hopefully preclude them from being doubly vaccinated as well as educate them to the need that they are facing. About noon we began sending teams out into the marketplace to vaccinate more people. By the time we closed the clinic over 600 tetanus vaccines had been administered. From the clinic we went to a heavily hit neighborhood where the majority of the population is living in tents. Two hours and 200 vaccines later we called it a day and waved goodbye to many grateful faces. After a good meal of beans and rice we are off to recharge for another day of hard work.
Please keep praying for all of the work down here and please support and follow us at mmdr.org and on Twitter @MMDRelief.
Keep up the good work David! Thank you for being there & working so hard for all the Haitians. We will keep you in our prayers.

Dr. Vanderpool,
I met you at a small airport in D.M. on our way down to Haiti as you were on your way out. We were a group of firefighters (Firefighters for Christ) and shared a greasy pizza together. Anyway, you are a great inspiration and I tell your story to all those asking about my trip to Haiti. I should probably verify some of the information I wrote down previously, but I believe you did 300 amputations on that first trip. I especially like the story about your sons plastering up broken limbs and the stakebed truck you used for an ambulance. I've been meaning to contact you for a while, but will obviously have to wait until you return. FFC is planning another trip to Haiti in April, but primarily a crusade-type event. I'd like you to meet our founder, John White, and see if we could pair up on ministry trips in the future.
